Briana White

Teaching Chef

My name is Briana White and I am a Baltimore (now Washington DC!) based chef with a focus on Mid- Atlantic cooking. I started my journey with the misuse of my Easy Bake Oven and eventually made it to the kitchens of my mother and grandmothers. I was immediately drawn in by how simple or complex cooking could be. Thankfully, this interest lasted through childhood and adolescence so I continued my education at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park,NY.

I then moved to Baltimore, MD to start my first kitchen job at Woodberry Kitchen. This was a hyper-seasonal restaurant that didn’t even use lemons because they didn’t grow in Maryland. I spent 3 years here moving up from garde manger to sous chef. I then managed a small kitchen at Bluebird Cocktail Room where I developed my skills in menu creation, catering and staff training. After another 3 years here, I realized that I wanted to dedicate more of my time to teaching and culinary education, thus leading me to my position at Emma’s Torch!

In my spare time I enjoy hanging with my cat (Gnocchi) and dog (Gouda), as well as crafts such as embroidery and miniature building.
